The first two races this weekend we had a couple of issues, not something really noticeable but enough to break my concentration and race run. The bike worked perfectly in the last race, I could ride it confidently to a win and to be sat here to be second in the championship is a wonderful feeling, even though we just missed out on taking the 2017 British Superbike Championship by 3 points.

It wasn’t a win today but it almost feels like it. Every point to me is extremely valuable. I’m of the opinion the team and I are going s good job but 5-2 leaves me somewhat unsatisfied. Heading to the final in 2nd position, 3 races to go ‘Must try harder’ to quote Kiyo.
This weekend was the start of the showdown at Oulton Park. A positive weekend, topping the time sheets, qualifying on the front row and finishing on the podium but I need to win races at Assen, that’s all there is to it. If we’re going to win the championship this year the bike has to be right, I have to ride it perfectly every time out, and we have to have a 100% satisfying weekend. That’s what we’ve got to focus on trying to achieve. You try and achieve that every weekend, but that’s clearly what needs to happen for us to have a chance.
We head to Assen 2nd in the Championship.
