In recent days the Milwaukee team has released the details for the 2016 race season. Yes it is true! The Milwaukee team have changed from Yamaha to BMW and will take part in the World Superbike Championship.
This may seem like a strange move after dominating the British Championship with the new model R1 this season. However the success could be contributed by the expertise of the team personnel and the R1 being competitive with the BSB rules. After much consideration of all the options, including Suzuki & Aprilia the BMW was the most fitting for the team to move into the World Superbike Championship & be competitive.
Let me explain how things look, before the season starts…
I take a lot of comfort in having Stewart Winton & Ian Lord working with me & directing the development of my bikes having been the driving force of this years success. Their experience & understanding of the technical side to set up, is the best i’ve worked with. The BMW is already recognised for its impressive power figures and with the WSBK championship already running Pirelli Tyres which I’ve raced on for the last 7 years in BSB, Ohlins suspension which I’ve raced on since 07 and I already have familiarity with the circuits having raced the World Championship in 2006, 07 and 08.
It’s quick to see theres already good reason to be building confidence that this will be my best chance yet for good results at World Championship level.
